SUMMARY:July Member Meeting - The Story of the Free Clinic of Pierce and St. Croix County: We’re Ready to Help
DESCRIPTION:For many of us\, health insurance is something we take for granted. We have it through our work and it's there for us when we need it. Now imagine not having that safety net when you need to see the doctor. That's the case for nearly 8% of Wisconsin's working age adults*. For a variety of reasons\, they've found themselves without health insurance or between plans.\n\n \n\nThankfully\, there's a resource for them. Since 2007 the Free Clinic of Pierce and St. Croix Counties has offered primary health care at no charge to low-income\, uninsured residents. Every Tuesday at 4:15pm\, the volunteer-run clinic is "ready to help" and provide care for a variety of acute and chronic health conditions not offered through other local programs.\n\n \n\nThe clinic's story is inspiring\, its mission rewarding\, and the effort is a great example of what can be done when the community comes together for a common cause. Join us as Mary Steele\, clinic manager\, puts a face to the uninsured of our region and shares the important role the clinic plays in providing health care for our friends and neighbors.\n\n\n\n*Source: Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
